Abhishek Bachchan's Ghoomer will be released on August 18. The actor has announced the happy news on Instagram with a motion poster. The film, directed and written by R Balki, stars Saiyami Kher in the lead role. The clip opens to Saiyami's character, a disabled woman who aspires to play for the Indian cricket team. In the next frame, we get a glimpse of Abhishek's character in Ghoomer. He plays the role of Saiyami's coach. In the background, we can hear the actor saying, “Logically, ek hath se koi desh k liye khel sakta hai? No. Lekin yeh life na logic ka khel nahi hai, magic ka khel hai. [Can someone play [cricket] with one hand for the country? No. But this life is a game of magic and not logic].” Towards the end, we can hear the theme song of the film. Sharing the video, Abhishek Bachchan wrote, “Lefty hai? Left hi hai. Ghoomer in cinemas on 18th August…” The trailer will be released later this week. Replying to the post, Abhishek's sister Shweta Bachchan wrote, “All the best brother [heart emoji] you.” Shweta's daughter Navya Naveli Nanda dropped a red heart under the post. Actor Suneil Shetty said, “Ab Baby.” Actor Kunal Kapoor, who is married to Abhishek's cousin Naina Bachchan, wrote, “This looks great, AB.” Abhishek's Dasvi co-star Nimrat Kaur simply “loved” Ghoomer's first look.
Ghoomer also stars Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in key roles. Ghoomer went on floors in February 2022. Abhishek Bachchan, sharing the Muhurat shot on Instagram, said, “Can't ask for a better birthday present! Birthdays are best spent, working. Ghoomer Now spinning.”
Ghoomer will premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2023 (IFFM), reported the news agency ANI. Ghoomer portrays the inspiring tale of a paraplegic sportsperson who excels as a cricketer under the guidance of her coach. In a joint statement, Abhishek Bachchan and R Balki said, "It's indeed an honour and pleasure for us that Ghoomer will be the opening film at the IFFM. Ghoomer is a story of turning adversity into advantage. A story of innovation when faced with extermination. It is a tribute to the sport and the reservoir of human resilience. It's only fitting for a film that believes that 'Sport makes life worth living' to be launched in the sport capital of the world, Australia, the land of the MCG. Welcome to the first preview of Ghoomer.”
